  Rotorua is a city on the southern coast of the lake of the same name, in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island of New Zealand and is one of the original tourist destinations in New Zealand— tourists are browsing this place for more than 200 years and always remain delighted by the beauty of this place.   Mount Tarawera is composed of Sacred Volcano, Landmark and Playground and plays an important role in the history of New Zealand and the Rotorua region. It is a pure and sacred place which was taken under the guardianship of the Ngati Rangitihi Maori tribe. In the late 1800’s this place was the centre of tourism in New Zealand. The most famous part of Tarawera is the Pink and White Silica Terraces. People from all over the world travel here to see this spectacular view. In 1886 the Terraces were destroyed because of an eruption that devastated much of the surrounding landscape. As a result of huge explosions, here have appeared craters, one of which is now filled by Lake Rotomahana. The natural landscape today is evidence to the unbelievable earth forces of the region. The second picturesque highlights in Rotorua are geothermal activity. In Rotorua the geothermal activity is everywhere. Not far away from the city alleys geysers of steaming water roar from the ground. In Kuirau Park there are some pools of sparkling mud that gurgle and belch. In geothermal fields around Rotorua, steam rises from placid lakes and flowing streams.

  In Rotarua there are a big number of lakes that make this region an aquatic paradise. Also Rotorua is home to botanical gardens and historic architecture. Another of Rotorua's attractions is mountain biking. Whakarewarewa Forest - One of Rotorua's most beautiful natural assets and just a five minute drive from the city centre and was has been described as 'the Disneyland of mountain biking' and has some of the best mountain bike trails in New Zealand. This place is a picturesque one where visitors can take a leisurely walk, ramble to panoramic views of the city and lakes. Also draws attention so called Okere Falls Scenic Reserve that is located a few kilometers down from Rotorua. There is a walking track with a view over the Okere River and its spectacular waterfalls. The Whirinaki Forest Park is another attraction that takes your breath away. Is located in south-east of Rotorua. The park, is known as a 'dinosaur forest', has a unique vegetation, is full of beautiful flowers and has many tall trees that are centuries old.
